2023, Jan. A monitoring and collaboration tool to reach shared goals for Europe’s digital transformation by 2030, the Digital Decade policy programme 2030, has come into effect.
Read here the Decision (EU) 2022/2481 of the EU Parliament and Council.
In accordance with the Declaration on European Digital Rights and Principles, the European Parliament, Member States, and the Commission have jointly established concrete objectives and targets in the four key areas of digital skills, infrastructure, including connectivity, the digitalization of businesses, and online public services. To assess progress and set benchmarks for completion by 2030, the objectives and targets are complemented by a cyclical cooperation process that began today.
A new structure for multi-country projects is also created by the program, enabling Member States to collaborate on digital initiatives.
The aim: Digital Decade targets and objectives
In order to achieve goals in the following four areas, EU Member States will shape their digital policies now and up to 2030 in cooperation with the European Parliament, the Council of the EU, and the Commission:
- Improve citizens’ basic and advanced digital skills;
- Improve the take-up of new technologies, like Artificial Intelligence, data and cloud, in the EU businesses, including in small businesses;
- Further advance the EU’s connectivity, computing and data infrastructure; and
- Make public services and administration available online.
It is becoming more and more evident every day that our vision of citizen-centered eGovernment or eServices, co-produced in a collaborative, digital environment, is critical to creating an accessible and inclusive Europe.
